Album: In the Reptile House
Label: SAF Records
I have this little ancient white Casio keyboard that also serves as a calculator. Of course we have advanced with all of our technology into the realm of mega-gig pocket music libraries, PDA disco parties, and laser eye surgery. So the tendency is to dismiss music that sounds dated because of the tools utilized in its making. But man, that keyboard could divide and multiply.
So here, the sounds seem to be lifted from some strange late-80’s dark gaming underground. If Sega Genesis had made a video game for the movie Blade, it might have sounded like this if it had been hacked and expanded into a multi-player virtual reality. The instruments are dated, but you can still use a knife to kill a man, and you can still use a Casio to get the post-dance-punk cynics to bob their heads.
