As art goes, there’s not much I dislike more than party photos. At best it’s a look-how-pretty-my-friends-are hip nightmare of an ego trip. At worst it’s pure name dropping (face dropping?) and that’s never good.
So when I woke up this morning and found a batch of pictures on my crappy digital camera that were anything but your traditional party-people shots, I was happy.
You can’t see much in them and there’s no real photographic narrative but I think it more or less captures the house party vibe. It’s that feeling of a dark room, pretty girls moving around to really loud ’80s rap songs, sweat, cigarette smell, beer smell, people hooking up, a line to the bathroom, fights on the verge, colored lights on the wall, a kitchen full of people talking, a fire outside in the backyard, the whole deal.
Here’s how it went down…
Oh, and happy birthday Dan. We love you.
